An air purifier or air filter is a device that removes contaminants in the air within a specific room to enhance indoor air quality. These devices are most commonly sold as being beneficial to asthmatics and allergy suffers, and in removing or reducing secondhand tobacco smoke from living spaces. These devices also include additional benefits such as removing dust mites, killing bacteria, and improving air quality for pets and home occupants. In addition, there are some models that can also clean out pet dander. Read more now!

These air purification devices use a combination of two processes - photoelectrochemical oxidation and ionization. The photoelectrochemical oxidation and ionization are the two methods most often used in industrial, medical, and manufacturing facilities. With photoelectrochemical oxidation, airborne pollutants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and ammonia are produced by reacting with enzymes in the air purifiers' filter. In the case of ionization, airborne toxins are reduced through a process called photoinduced electron transfer.

Air purification via ionization has many different types, including wet cell ozone air purification, ionizers for automobile exhaust, photoelectric filtration, ozone ionizers, and wet cell ozone ionizers. Some of these devices work better than others. The most effective are the wet cell ozone ionizer and automobile exhaust ionizers.

Air filters also play an important role in air purification. Different filters are designed for various purposes. For example, some filters can effectively reduce dust mites and other allergens while others are designed to eliminate dust mite droppings. Air filters also vary in functionality and size.

Some newer purifiers have been developed by companies such as airocide, biolet, and critterzone. Airocide, a division of Emerson Electric, manufactures an air purification system called robot. It combines ionizing and adsorption technologies to provide efficient air purification. It is an off-the-shelf technology that allows for the customization of the manufacturer's HEPA filtration. Biolet and Critterzone also produce air purification systems similar to airocide's.

A final type of purifier is the ionizer, which was introduced in the late 1960s. Ionized air purifiers can remove most airborne particles, but their efficiency declines if they are unable to capture small particles. One example of this is the electrostatic charge of an ionizer. Smaller particles, such as pollen, are unable to charge up the static field of a neutralizer. Ionizers therefore cannot effectively remove dust and pollen, but they can remove dirt and odors.

The newest type of purifiers are the ultra-fine air filters, which are made from extremely fine pores. This allows the air purifier to trap more particles than other types. Ultra-fine filters do not have the ability to remove impurities on a molecular level like other filters do. However, these devices can remove dust, airborne allergens, and airborne bacteria and viruses.

Air purification is an important step for improving indoor air quality. Portable air purifiers are often used by individuals in homes or offices to improve the overall health of the air they breathe. Portable air purifiers are generally less expensive than permanent purifiers, and some are now available for use in vehicles. Check out this product for more info.
